Collect all the necessary documents for the National D Visa, submitting three application forms + one original and two sets of copies of all required documents, in the specified order without stapling. All documents should be clear, valid, and authentic.

  • Documents not in English, German, French, or Italian may need a certified translation.

Schedule an appointment online through the VFS Global website to submit the application in person at the Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi.

  • Submit your completed application forms and all required documents in person at the Embassy of Switzerland on the date of your appointment.

  • Pay the visa fee (currently around INR 8,800 for the Type D visa, though a service charge may also apply).

  • Provide your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph).

  • The complete application is forwarded to the competent cantonal immigration authority in Switzerland for a decision.

  • The processing time for a Type D student visa generally ranges from 8 to 12 weeks (or 60 to 180 days) after submission. It is recommended to apply as early as possible, but not earlier than 6 months before your entry date.
